An Emerging Company in Solar Energy is looking for innovative and creative methods to avoid the theft of devices such as (generators, solar panels,solar inverters, batteries…etc.) and track them if stolen especially if these electronic devices are placed in rural areas such as desert or farms where there is weak or no internet connection thus depending on the GPS in tracking the stolen assests won't be the optimal solution. Your solution shall decrease the rate of device thefts and facilitate the recovery of stolen assets.

The Problem: 
Companies have long experienced cases of devices theft; electronic devices are likelier to be subjected to theft than natural disaster and to be stolen than damaged in an auto accident. Consequently, the companies that get hit with devices theft have to set huge amounts money just to replace the stolen items. There's also the issue of downtime due to the lack of needed equipment, which results in lost revenue. Despite the currently  used surveillance and tracking techniques such as cameras,alarms...etc, the theft of heavy and electronic devices still occur especially in solar farms. The solar installments such as panels, cabling, batteries and other solar hardware are valuable and easy to steal thus these devices are easy targets for theft.Please read on for more details!

The Challenge: 

To find an innovative, economic and clever method to track the stolen solar devices in order to facilitate their retrieval. Your solution can open new markets for the protection of  such valuable devices against theft, and reduce the risk of having them Stolen. The proposed solution should fulfill the following requirements: 

•  can be easily applied to electronic devices and doesn’t interfere with their performances;
• should not exceed 1500 EGP;
•   should be well hidden and can't be disabled during theft;
•  can provide tracking of the device whereabouts up to 10 meters;
•   preferably provide an alarming system in case of any movement ;
•  can be applied on different types of devices such as electronic (cabling, solar panels…etc.), heavy ( generators…etc.).

Reward & Conditions: 
A reward of 5,000 EGP and an internship offered by the Company will be provided to the best solution to implement it, according to the following conditions: 
1. The solution shall be in the form of a prototype that describes the characteristics of the tracking method(s), the cost of the various manufacturing stages (where applicable) etc;

2. The solution should include a clear plan of action including implementation stages, timeline, required tools/materials, estimated budget, and technical support required (if applicable);  

3. The reward will be given in installments, in accordance to milestones set by the innovator(s) according to their plan of action; 
As per our platform Privacy Policy, in case the intellectual property rights are not registered, the innovator should include the minimum details required to judge the technical validity and feasibility of the solution without full technical specifications .
