“Can you design a game to promote the services available on the “Digital Egypt” platform amongst citizens?”

Would you like to help citizens save time, money, and resources using gamification? In collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) - Supporting e-Government and Innovation in the Public Administration Project (InnoPA), A call for gamers, creative thinkers, etc. to use their skills to help make a difference in the life of Egyptian citizens, we are looking for creative gamification ideas to educate the citizens about digital services provided through the “Digital Egypt” platform and also collect their feedback on their experience.

Submit your innovative idea to reach out to citizens from different segments through game ideas seizing a chance to win 10,000 EGP for the best three ideas (each) provided by GIZ - Supporting e-Government and Innovation in the Public Administration Project InnoPA. Please read the following for more details!

Background

The Supporting e-Government and Innovation in the Public Administration Project (InnoPA) is one of the GIZ projects in Egypt, which aims to promote e-governance and digital opportunities.

The age group of 15 to 64 years represents 61.9% of Egypt's population; these are more likely to require different public services frequently. This massive crowd in the public services offices represents a heavy burden on governmental employees and obligates long waiting times from the public side. Occasionally, citizens can't find the correct set of official documents required to perform the service, which prolongs the process. As a result, the application process can be exhausting for most of us.

To alleviate this burden on citizens, the Egyptian government has undergone massive efforts to connect the different government entities electronically and offer services online. But yet, the citizens aren’t familiar with the new e-government services, neither know how to apply for them nor trust the digital process efficiency. Accordingly, the benefits of this digital transformation have not reached their full potential.

The Challenge

To design a game to raise community awareness of different governmental services provided through the Digital Egypt platform

The gamification strategy should have innovative ideas to

  1. Promote and raise awareness of the public to use different services on the platform (issuing birth certificates, ration cards, Payment of driving licenses fines, editing power of attorney, etc.)

  2. Receive feedback/suggestions after visiting the platform.

  3. Include a scoring system to incentivize game players later on.

The proposed solution should demonstrate the following methodology:

  • Easy and simple to apply and play

  • Describe your gamification idea clearly

  • Define your idea’s success metrics and attraction points

  • Applicable on different channels and operating systems  (Android, IOS, ...) for digital games

  • Low cost and maintenance approach

  • Clearly outline your expected budget and implementation timeline (should you be selected for a future contract)

How to participate?

  • Submit a complete application form before the deadline 04/02/2023 11:59 (GMT+2). This idea should include a detailed proposal clearly demonstrating how the outlined criteria will be met.

  • The shortlisted candidates will be chosen based on the innovativeness of their solutions as well as their ability to address all three challenges in the challenge area and will be invited to present their ideas in an online pitch competition.

  • The best three winning ideas will be chosen by GIZ - InnoPA.

The GIZ reserves the right to invite you to sign a contract to implement your solution within a year of the pitch competition.
